The Amazing Pat Benatar Can Still Belt Out The Songs At Age 69

Pat Benatar Performs Promises In The Dark Live In Albany July 2022

Pat Benatar performs live July 2022 Albany NYRocker Pat Benatar has been performing with her husband, guitarist and songwriter Neil Geraldo for over 43 years.

Musicians don’t fret that their skills will deteriorate the way singers do.

A powerful rock singer usually has no more than ten to fifteen years of prime vocal strength and then its a slow steady decline as their range and power diminish. The decline can be devastating to the singer and painfully sad for fans of a band. Ask Steve Perry of Journey or Lou Gramm of Foreigner.

Not so with Pat Benatar.

At age 69 Pat Benatar has been singing her heart out for over 40 years. This performance last month in Albany, NY shows that Pat can still hit her notes.

Husband Neil Geraldo is one of the most underrated guitarists in rock. His fluid style of playing does not get noticed by the casual rock fan. He is an amazing talent.

In this clip Pat tells the audience that the musical couple are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.

No hair dye.

No auto-tune or digital recording trickery.

Pat Benatar and the band will be inducted into the meaningless Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame this year. Bands are eligible for induction 25 years after their debut.

Well the idiots who run the Hall are only about 18 years late. As if Pat and the band need this honor to validate their amazing career.

If Pat had done only this one song (video below) they merit rock immortality, Please note in the  video, drummer Myron Grombacher, another musician overlooked by most critics when it comes to tops in their field. Heartbreaker is one of the catchiest rock songs ever written.

May Pat rock for as long as she can.

Love Pat and Neil…saw them in 1980 in Minneapolis. Amazing. What’s more amazing is how great she sounds today and of course Neil is one of the greatest guitar players alive. 20 yrs to late for Hall of Fame. For me they were in it years ago.

Love this article. You are right they don’t need an award. The fans are the award! I use to listen to her cassette over & over again back in the day rocking in my dads chair. I did a skit of 1 of her videos in drama class back in the 80’s. She was my idol!! Unfortunately, never made a concert.

I just want to say how much I love this site. I know I will ALWAYS find something interesting, often illuminating. It should be required reading for every high school senior. Last chance before they devolve in college.

Never a real fan of Benatar and Geraldo, but I respect the heck out of them. Long marriage, no hair dye or plastic surgery, can still play up a storm. They’re also probably better looking now than in their heyday.
