What Is An Idiot And Why Can They Vote?
On November 3, 2026 idiots will flock to the polls to cast their votes. I am not talking about the legal defined term for idiot that three states prohibit from casting a ballot. No, I’m Just referring to people voting for politicians and policies advocating the destruction of the republic.
Since no one will admit to being an idiot, it would be wise to examine the word “idiot”.
In the 1948 film The Three Musketeers the Duke of Buckingham (John Sutton) says to Queen Anne (Angela Lansbury) that her husband, King Louis XIII, is an “idiot.”
Was “idiot” really used to describe someone in 18th century France or was the screenwriter putting an anachronistic term in the film?
Revisiting the etymology of “idiot” it is possible that idiot may have been used in the 1700s.
The biased and incomplete Wikipedia (which we generally do not source), notes that:
The Greek noun idiōtēs ‘a private person, individual’ ‘a common man’, or ‘a person lacking professional skill, layman’ (as opposed to a craftsman or expert). Later, it came to mean ‘unskilled’ or ‘ignorant’. Latin borrowed idiota in the meaning ‘uneducated’, ‘ignorant’, ‘common’, and in Late Latin came to mean ‘crude, illiterate, ignorant’. In French, it kept the meaning of ‘illiterate’, ‘ignorant’, and added the meaning ‘stupid’ in the 13th century. In English, it added the meaning ‘mentally deficient’ in the 14th century.
In 19th- and early 20th-century medicine and psychology, an “idiot” was a person with a very profound intellectual disability, being diagnosed with “idiocy”. In the early 1900s, Dr. Henry H. Goddard proposed a classification system for intellectual disability based on the Binet-Simon concept of mental age. Individuals with the lowest mental age level (less than three years) were identified as idiots; imbeciles had a mental age of three to seven years, and morons had a mental age of seven to ten years.[16] The term “idiot” was used to refer to people having an IQ below 30
These mental classifications which we wrote about previously have been abandoned.
Yet three states, Kentucky, Mississippi and Ohio keep the term idiot in their state constitutions and explicitly forbid idiots to vote.
Mississippi’s law on voting:
Article 12 SECTION 241.
Every inhabitant of this state, except idiots and insane persons, who is a citizen of the United States of America, eighteen (18) years old and upward, who has been a resident of this state for one (1) year, and for one (1) year in the county in which he offers to vote, and for six (6) months in the election precinct or in the incorporated city or town in which he offers to vote, and who is duly registered as provided in this article, and who has never been convicted of murder, rape, bribery, theft, arson, obtaining money or goods under false pretense, perjury, forgery, embezzlement or bigamy, is declared to be a qualified elector, except that he shall be qualified to vote for President and Vice President of the United States if he meets the requirements established by Congress therefor and is otherwise a qualified elector.
Answering the original question, why can idiots vote? It is because 47 states have no law explicitly forbidding an “idiot” to vote and clearly defining what comprises the modern equivalent of an idiot. As noted, the modern terminology for idiot is someone with “profound intellectual disability.”
Modern Idiots
The word idiot itself is not offensive. We use it every day to describe motorists who weave in and out of lanes of heavy traffic, cutting in front of others in a long line or those who tattoo their face. If anyone gets a face tattoo, it should just be words saying “Don’t Hire Me”
Maybe idiot can be brought back into legal use. And a law passed in every state prohibiting idiots from voting.
Just redefine “idiot” as a person who believes in voting for politicians and policies who wish to bring about the destruction of the “United” States.
Idiots are responsible for granting power to repugnant assailants of Western civilization and America. The proof is in the elections of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani; New York Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez; Minnesota Representative Ihlan Omar; Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett and others.
Who would vote these reprehensible, unqualified people into positions of power?
Idiots.
People who think everything should be free and paid for by the government or the “wealthy”. Fools who believe that redistribution (confiscation) of money and resources are right and just. Those who view the United States as a country of inequity and inequality founded upon racism. And most alarmingly, the brainwashed youth who want “change” without understanding the ramifications of their revolt.
The faculty and agenda of institutions of higher learning insure that the number of idiots will continue to increase.
They will vote in large numbers.
The result? Permanent European-type discord coming to America soon that will make our current strife look minuscule.
