Clara Bow Working On Toys At The North Pole

We don’t know who took this publicity photograph of Clara Bow. We do know it was one of a series about Clara being a helper to Santa that appeared in Photoplay Magazine in 1927. The igloo and the wreath put the setting at the North Pole as Clara is working on toys, even though her outfit is not weather appropriate.

This photograph is evidence that Clara’s face and features were strikingly modern. Her pose and natural beauty leap off the page.
