Clemente the spark plug of the Pirates during his career from 1955- 1973 went one for four in game one. In the second game Clemente came into the game as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning of a 5-4 loss to the lowly Mets, who won their 31st game of the season.

The Mets ended up winning 40 games in 1962 while losing an astounding 120.
