Coincidentally another one of Garland’s MGM co-stars Donna Reed got married to Tony Owen the same day by the same man, Dr. William E. Roberts of the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Community Church. The two newly married couples met up later in the day at the Pasadena railway station to take the Superchief heading east. Garland and Minelli would stay in New York briefly then continue on to Canada as part of a three month honeymoon.
Garland and Minnelli divorced six years later. Judy Garland’s unhappy life ended on June 22, 1969 when she died of an unintentional barbiturate overdose. She was 47.
That’s a great picture of Judy and Vincent, I’ve never seen that one before.
