At The Beverly Wilshire Hotel

The Mayfair Ball was the largest social gathering in Los Angeles in the 1930’s. The dashing Howard Hughes was a Hollywood producer at the time. Marian Marsh had appeared in Hughes’ 1930 movie Hells Angels and cast in some successful films including, Five Star Final (1931),  Svengali (1931) and Crime and Punishment (1935). Her last feature film was in 1942 and she retired from acting in 1958. Marian Marsh later became a conservationist and environmentalist. She died in 2006 at the age of 93.
